IND 473/8 in 120 Overs (Stumps, Lead by 255 Runs) | India vs England Highlights of 5th Test 2024 Day 2: Hosts Extend Dominance With Sizeable Lead

Another day of very good cricket and India still with the upper hand, in this contest. Overnight batters Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored sparkling centuries but that did not end England’s woes with Sarfaraz Khan and debutant Devdutt Padikkal scoring fifties each. England did find a way to run through the Indian lower-order with Shoaib Bashir dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel and Tom Hartley getting the wickets of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. England might have thought that they’d finally seen the end of this massive Indian batting but a stubborn partnership that was worth 45 runs between Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav saw the hosts finishing with 473/8 with a lead of 255 runs. For England Bashir was the best bowler, taking four wickets while Jadeja took two. One of the highlights of the day for the visitors was when Ben Stokes returned to bowl and dismissed Rohit Sharma with his very first delivery. Overall, India are still on top here and would look to add more runs to this 233-run lead on Day 3.
