Zoom back online after major outage impacts over 50,000 users with 5003 error code

After over 50,000 issues with service, such as problem logging on, were reported in the US, Zoom Communications Inc. announced that it has restored service that disrupted access for tens of thousands of users.

“Service has now been restored after the earlier outage, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company said. Zoom’s site to monitor system status and some email services also was back online after experiencing difficulties.

Netizens’ concerns on Zoom outage

One of the users had mentioned, “woooooof, probably not a good sign that even zoom’s status page is down.” Another remarked, ””Is Zoom down? Anyone else experiencing issues?” “Zoom is down. Maybe don’t host your uptime and status pages using the same system (or DNS config) that the rest of your app uses?” said a user.

The disruption

Numerous users had posted on X about Error code 5003 while making an effort on the application and the website. “This incident affects: Zoom Meetings (Zoom Meetings), Zoom Phone – Global (Web Portal (Admin/Users/Provisioning/Dashboard & Reporting)), Zoom Contact Center – Global (Web Portal (Admin/Users/Provisioning)), and Zoom Website (Web Portal),” Zoom’s status-page had stated.

The video-conferencing platform had stated it was “experiencing an outage” that was impacting some users, but a restore was underway.

According to Downdetector.com that tracks outages by gathering status reports from various sources, comprising user-submitted errors on its platform, revealed the number of reported issues reached up to 67,280 Zoom users as of 3:01 pm ET.

Zoom became an important  business tool during the COVID-19 pandemic as businesses adopted the remote work. Since then, it has remained a crucial part of workplace communication.

Vijayashanthi and Kalyan Ram competed in terms of acting

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi, directed by Pradeep Chilukuri, is set for a theatrical release on April 18. Also starring the legendary Vijayashanti, the film is billed as a massy family entertainer with action, sentiment, and a quietly simmering ideological conflict between a mother and son. It marks a comeback for Vijayashanti in a full-length, physically intense role and presents Kalyan Ram in an intense emotional space. Addressing how the film came into being, Pradeep shared, “The producers wanted to make a film with Kalyan Ram gaaru. He had already done experimental films like Devil or Amigos recently. This time, we thought, ‘Let’s do a mass film.’ I built a strong hero character, and then we thought, what if the mother was just as powerful? That’s when the idea of a character like Vyjayanthi came to life.”

The real test, of course, was casting. Pradeep recalled, “We pitched the idea to Kalyan Ram gaaru and he said yes, but only if Vijayashanti gaaru agrees to it. If she is not going to do it, then let’s work on another story. We took it to her, and she was very happy. She even suggested a few changes. We made them, and then we went to set.”

Kairosoft disputes SEBI, BSE’s legislation for imposing GSM Stage 4 in Delhi HC

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday heard Kairosoft AI Solutions’ appeal against the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and BSE over their decision to impose graded surveillance measure (GSM) Stage 4 on the company’s shares.

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Kairosoft, led the defense by arguing that it was unfair to restrict trading in the company’s stock based on YouTube videos whose viewership and subscriber numbers were insufficient to justify such a regulatory action.

He contended that the videos could not have benefitted the promoters as they only hold 5 per cent stake in the company, with the rest being public shareholding. Further, the videos were taken down as of April 9 following a cyber complaint filed by the company, and a disclosure has also been put on its website.

Administrative circulars

Sibal also raised the question of the constitutionality of exchange circulars, arguing that these are administrative circulars with no statutory backing or legislation. He also argued against SEBI’s objections about the territorial jurisdiction of the Delhi High Court in the matter stating that the company is based in Delhi irrespective of BSE and SEBI being in Mumbai.

SEBI’s representative said trading has not been stopped or prohibited, but a cap has been put. The regulator plans to explain the GSM mechanism, its statutory backing, and show how it is not a hindrance to the company at the next hearing on Monday.

The outcome of this case, set against a backdrop of increased market vigilance by SEBI following pump-and-dump schemes by promoters, could prompt a re-examination of how regulatory surveillance measures are applied on stocks.

The legal battle started when BSE’s April 3 circular placed Kairosoft under GSM Stage 4, which is a surveillance measure to curb excessive speculation among investors. This limits trading in the stock to only Mondays, moves it to trade-for-trade segment, with a 5 per cent price band and an additional surveillance deposit (ASD) of 100 per cent of the trade value.

Kairosoft has challenged SEBI and BSE to set aside the exchange notice on the grounds of no prior notice and no fault or association of the company with individuals behind the videos.

Mentalno zdravlje i hodanje
