If your oven racks are greasy and covered in bits of food, then it’s likely they need a thorough cleaning.

However, oven racks can be fiddly to clean which means many people tend to avoid the chore for as long as possible.

Now, fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have shared their go-to method for cleaning oven racks.

Tish Mccormack posted on the Facebook group, Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips: “Easiest and fastest way to clean oven racks please?”

The most suggested method from Mrs Hinch fans was to use dishwasher tablets.

Dannielle Jade Barlow said: “Dishwasher tablet, a bit of washing up liquid in hot water, leave to soak, scrub off with metal scourers.”

Margaret Mary Byrne replied: “Steep in boiling water and dishwasher tablets.”

Tricia Blakeman commented: “Leave to soak overnight in a dishwasher tablet and boiling water.”

Caroline Brown wrote: “Put in the bath, cover with hot water and throw in two dishwasher tablets. Leave overnight and use the shower hose to rinse. Grime just falls off with a gentle rubbing.”

Rozegold Gold posted: “Dishwasher tablet in vinegar. A little bit of Fairy [liquid] and leave it for a bit then wash it or put it in the dishwasher.”

Anyone who owns a dishwasher will likely have dishwasher tablets at home, however, those who don’t can buy them from local supermarkets.

Asda All in 1 Dishwasher Tablets cost £4 for 40 which works out at 10p per tablet. House 24/7 Dishwasher Tablets cost £1.49 from Sainsbury’s for 30 which works out at 5p per tablet.

However, some fans warned oven racks can scratch the bath so it’s best to put down a towel before trying this method. Judith Smith said: “You can do this but put a towel in the bath first so it doesn’t scratch your bath.”

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans for cleaning oven racks included using white vinegar, baking soda, grass, Oven Pride and the dishwasher.

Andrea Jones said: “White vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.”

Susan Mcalpine commented: “Chuck them on your lawn and leave overnight. Next day, everything just wipes off.

“I found this out after throwing my barbecue rack onto the lawn and forgot about it [the] next day. It just wiped clean.”

Colleen Bisson posted: “Put them through a wash cycle in [the] dishwasher but remove before [the] drying cycle if there are any bits that were baked on they just wipe off. Voila, lovely shiny oven shelves.”

Trisha Fox wrote: “Oven Pride, you can’t go wrong. Minimum effort required.”
